New York Giants star RB Saquon Barkley still hasn’t signed his franchise tender.

The team’s voluntary offseason program started on Monday, and there haven’t been any updates about the situation.

So, when asked about Barkley’s future with the team, GM Joe Schoen said that the media would have to ask Barkley if he intends to be with them in the offseason, according to Ari Meirov.

The G-Men placed Barkley under the franchise tag, and they’ve tried to get him to sign a long-term deal for months now, but to no avail.

Owner John Mara and Schoen have been vocal about their desire to keep him around for the future, but there has been little-to-no progress in the negotiations nonetheless, and the fans aren’t pleased.

Barkley isn’t eligible to partake in their offseason program if he’s not signed.

He will play under the one-year franchise tender. given he signs it, if he doesn’t agree to a new deal by July 15.

That would make him a little more than $10 million next season, far below the $14 million he reportedly wanted in his new deal.

Barkley was one of the best running backs in the league when he first came out of Penn State, and he’s coming off one of the best seasons of his career.

Nonetheless, his history of injuries has raised plenty of concerns about his long-term outcome, which is why most analysts thought he would need to settle for a pay cut.

So, will he be a part of Brian Daboll’s offense in 2023?

It seems like not even the team knows for sure right now.
