On Thursday, the Los Angeles Dodgers squared off against the red-hot St. Louis Cardinals in the opener of a four-game series at Busch Stadium.
The Cardinals ultimately won the game, hitting seven home runs en route to a 16-8 win, which was their ninth in their last 11 games.
However, the Dodgers made it interesting, despite falling behind by a healthy margin.
After Adam Wainwright departed, the Dodgers began to chip away.
In the top of the sixth inning, Freddie Freeman hit a grand slam to accomplish a historic feat.
It was the veteran first baseman’s 300th career home run, and it brought the Dodgers to within two runs of St. Louis.

The grand slam was one of two hits Freeman picked up in St. Louis.
It also was his eighth home run of the year.
The 33-year-old has certainly had a memorable career.
The slugger made his MLB debut in 2010 with the Atlanta Braves.
He owns an MVP Award, three Silver Slugger Awards, a Gold Glove, a World Series ring, and is also a six-time All-Star.
The veteran first baseman continued to add to his impressive resume with his grand slam at Busch Stadium.
The 2021 World Series champion couldn’t save the Dodgers from defeat, but still managed to add to his list of accomplishments and reach a historic feat.
In his first 179 at-bats of the season, Freeman is hitting .313 with 27 RBI and a .918 OPS.
For his career, he owns a .299 batting average and has posted an OPS of .896, while also knocking in 1,068 runs.
