The NBA is a scorers’ league now more than ever.

While defense still wins championships, fans pay the price of admission to watch crafty moves, shifty finishes, elite shooters, and poster dunks.

With that in mind, Jay Williams put together a list of his top five scorers in the NBA since 2000.

At No. 5, Williams chose Allen Iverson, who comes as no surprise.

Iverson was the most influential hooper of the early 2000s.

His unmatched crossover, handles, footwork, and ability to get to the rim made him one of the toughest icons in NBA history.

He later chose James Harden, who rarely gets the credit he deserves.

We can all argue that it came to a point where watching Harden was a bit boring because of how many fouls he drew, but there’s also plenty of merit in playing within the rules and forcing rival players to foul you.

Moreover, Harden had one of the most dominant scoring runs this game has ever seen.

At No. 3, we have non-other than the late great Kobe Bryant, the guy who resembled the most to Michael Jordan, and perhaps the most unstoppable scorer this game has ever seen, at least in terms of determination and toughness.

Kobe made a living out of knocking down heavily-contested shots, especially with the game on the line.

Stephen Curry gets the nod at No. 2, which isn’t much of a surprise, either.

Curry is the most influential player in today’s game, someone who changed the way rival teams play defense, and who turned the NBA into a three-point shooting league.

And last but not least, Williams chose Kevin Durant as the No. 1 scorer in the league since 2000, and rightfully so.

Durant has a legit case for being the greatest pure scorer ever, and his rare combination of size and shooting skills made him virtually unstoppable in his heyday.
