Max Scherzer Is Sticking To His Story After Ejection

New York Mets star Max Scherzer had one of the worst moments of his career on Wednesday afternoon.

Pitching against the Los Angeles Dodgers, he was ejected by the umpire crew for using foreign substances on the ball.

It was an ugly scene, and there was a heated discussion between the player and the umpires.

The aftermath of Scherzer’s ejection has him at risk of getting slapped with a 10-game suspension, per MLB’s rules.

Scherzer insists he did nothing wrong.

“I swear on my kids’ life I’m not using anything else, sweat and rosin. That’s it.” -Max Scherzer,” user @CalicoJoeMLB tweeted.

Scherzer says it was just sweat and rosin he was using.

However, umpires said that Scherzer’s hand was the stickiest they have ever seen in live action since MLB started to ban the use of foreign substances on the ball in 2021.

Rosin is a legal substance, but when mixed with sweat, it can recreate the effect of a sticky substance.

Umpires can eject the pitcher if the level of stickiness is so much that it can create an advantage, and that’s what they decided to do with Scherzer even though it was just rosin and sweat.

It remains to be seen if the league thinks otherwise, but several reporters said there is zero chance he will avoid the 10-game suspension.

The Mets rotation is currently in shambles, with Justin Verlander, Jose Quintana and Carlos Carrasco out with injury and now with Scherzer about to be suspended.

The true depth of their pitching staff is about to be tested.
