The Los Angeles Lakers are facing a 2-0 deficit in the Western Conference Finals, with the Denver Nuggets winning both games on their home floor to start the series and showing they’re clearly the better basketball team right now.

Even though the Nuggets have beaten the Lakers in consecutive games in this series thus far and head to Los Angeles with a commanding lead, head coach Mike Malone isn’t happy about the narrative that the media is running with moving forward.

Malone was particularly angry with the fact that the media chose to focus on Rui Hachimura having some success guarding Nikola Jokic rather than the superstar having an incredible performance in Game 1, where he recorded a triple-double with 34 points, 21 rebounds, 14 rebounds, and two blocks.

After a second straight win for the Nuggets, Malone blasted the media for its pro-Lakers narrative in Denver’s postgame press conference.

With a commanding 2-0 series lead, the Western Conference Finals shifts to Los Angeles for the first time, as the Nuggets have an ideal scenario of being able to finish off their opponent before returning to Denver.

The consensus right now is that the Nuggets will ultimately advance to the NBA Finals, but the Lakers will likely steal one game in Los Angeles unless the team falls apart in Game 3 and Game 4 at Crypto.com Arena.

It’ll be interesting to see if this pro-Lakers narrative continues even with Los Angeles and Anthony Davis and LeBron James struggling to keep up with a very good Nuggets squad led by arguably the best player in the league today.
