For the Los Angeles Angels, it was a Wednesday night to remember.

For the St. Louis Cardinals, not so much.

The Angels and Cardinals engaged in a back-and-forth affair on Wednesday night, with the Cardinals ultimately chasing Shohei Ohtani after five innings.

St. Louis led 4-3 in the ninth inning when the Halos came storming back, tying the game on Jake Lamb’s home run before taking the lead two batters later when Mike Trout went deep.

Trout’s home run stunned the crowd in St. Louis.

Los Angeles added another run and held on to win by a final of 6-4.

Trout’s home run was ultimately the difference in the game.

On Twitter, MLB on FOX posted a video of the moment.

The home run certainly gave the Angels a big boost.

It also prompted a smattering of boos from the Busch Stadium faithful, as they chastised the Cardinals for yet another misstep.

But for the Angels, it proved to be the difference in the game.

The three-time American League MVP only had one hit in the game, but he sure made it count.

That put reliever Ryan Tepera in line for the victory and set up a save opportunity for Los Angeles closer Carlos Estevez.

It was the veteran slugger’s eighth home run of the season and 19th RBI.

He also brought his average up to .296 and OPS up to .971.

The Halos held on and ultimately secured a series win over St. Louis, improving to 17-14 on the year.

With the loss, the Cardinals dropped to the bottom of the National League with a 10-21 record.
