The Oakland Athletics announced, on Wednesday, their plans to build a new stadium in Las Vegas.

They say they want to be playing there by 2027, so this effectively means their days in Oakland are numbered.

They have been in Oakland since 1968, won three consecutive World Series from 1972 to 1974, and then another one in 1989.

The A’s have a lot of fans, even if it doesn’t look like it judging by attendance numbers in recent years.

According to an MLB analyst, the league and the A’s ownership are mostly to blame about recent struggles and the decision to move.

“The worst take today is to suggest the A’s are moving because ‘no one goes to the games.’ This was the plan by A’s ownership + MLB watched the scam happen. Neglect the team. Neglect the ballpark. Then sell apathy as a reason to go cash in a free ballpark in Las Vegas,” CBS Sports Radio host Damon Amendolara tweeted.

We don’t know if it was a plan, but the team and the ballpark were definitely neglected.

The Oakland Coliseum is one of the oldest parks in MLB and the franchise never seriously considered building another one in the area.

Fans were neglected because the team was.

After their 2021 postseason run, the A’s traded or let go of all their high-profile players.

All of them were forced to leave.

The A’s have played with a Triple-A roster in the last two seasons and of course fans didn’t exactly rush to an old stadium to watch a minor league baseball team play against MLB squads.

Now, Oakland fans are left with nothing but disappointment.
