A group in Salt Lake City is reportedly planning to pursue an expansion franchise in MLB, according to Jeff Passan of ESPN.

A potential expansion has been discussed around MLB circles for some time now.

Evidently, the league wants to go to 32 teams eventually.

There are several cities that could potentially host an expansion franchise.

MLB fans were presented with the burning question:

Nashville and Charlotte have been circulating around the rumor mill for years now.

They both could make for nice places to host a major league team, for several reasons.

Las Vegas is also an option, although it could potentially be a perfect relocation spot for the Oakland Athletics should they move.

The A’s stadium is one of the oldest in baseball, the major league team is one of the worst in the league at the moment, and attendance numbers are very, very low.

But back to the expansion concept.

Investors want to bring Major League Baseball to Salt Lake City, and the city would be an amazing landing spot.

Altitude could affect gameplay somewhat, like it happens at the Colorado Rockies’ Coors Field, but otherwise there should be no issues whatsoever.

Other people said they would love to see a franchise in Montreal again.

As a reminder, the Montreal Expos were part of the National League from 1969 to 2004.

Other said New Orleans could be a potential city to host MLB baseball, too.
