Madison Bumgarner had a rough day in St. Louis on Wednesday.
The veteran left-hander took the mound for the Arizona Diamondbacks in hopes of pitching them to a sweep over the struggling St. Louis Cardinals.
However, he allowed seven runs over three innings.
As it turns out, his rough outing in St. Louis was likely his last in a Diamondbacks uniform.
On Thursday, it was revealed that the D’Backs had designated Bumgarner for assignment.
Bumgarner, 33, is 0-3 to start the season and owns a 10.26 ERA.

Passan also revealed that the D’Backs would eat more than $34 million remaining on the veteran left-hander’s contract.
The three-time World Series champion was signed by the team on a five-year deal after the 2019 season.
He began his career with the San Francisco Giants in 2009 and won three World Series rings with the team in 2010, 2012, and 2014.
Bumgarner became a legend in San Francisco thanks to his dominant postseason run in 2014.
That year, he won Games 1 and 5 and ultimately recorded a save in Game 7 of the series against the Kansas City Royals.
Now, Bumgarner’s future is uncertain.
He posted a 4.88 ERA last season with Arizona, going 7-15 in 30 starts.
The 15-year veteran will more than likely end up as a free agent.
There are certain teams that could use some starting pitching help and could potentially take a flyer on the veteran lefty.
His former team, the Giants, could be one of them.
