Los Angeles Dodgers star Mookie Betts is certainly a versatile man.
He made his MLB debut in 2014 as a second baseman with the Boston Red Sox, and was later converted into an outfielder.
He won multiple Gold Gloves back there, but he prides himself in being great at several things and, in this case, positions.
Given the Dodgers’ current need for a shortstop, he played there on Thursday night.
Far from disappointing, he was absolutely stellar, making tough double plays look like routine things.
He did play shortstop in high school, but never with the Dodgers.
Dodgers insider Juan Toribio published a funny anecdote after the game.
“When asked what position Mookie Betts will be playing tomorrow, #Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said he’s still thinking it through. I guess we can officially call him a utility man,” Toribio tweeted, about his chat with Roberts.

For the record, Betts is back playing his customary right field, where he is also an asset with the glove and the arm.
Betts is one of MLB’s premier athletes.
He grew up playing baseball, basketball, bowling, and even football.
He was an outstanding guard with excellent passing skills while playing hoops, and is also a bowling champion who has had a perfect line of 300 points.
On the diamond, he could probably play every position if he set his mind to it.
Offensively, he has it all: contact, power, on-base ability, and speed.
He even won an MVP in the American League five years ago, and has also won two World Series.
He is a joy to watch, and a true winner.
