Mother’s Day is always a special day in the world of Major League Baseball.
Often times, players will wear pink gear to raise awareness for breast cancer.
Washington Nationals pitcher Chad Kuhl experienced a special moment on Sunday prior to the team’s game against the New York Mets.
Kuhl’s wife, Amanda is a breast cancer survivor, and she got a chance to throw out the ceremonial first pitch at Nationals Park on Sunday.
Kuhl himself was behind the plate and caught Amanda’s first pitch.
The crowd then went wild as the two embraced.
The Nationals posted a video of the moment on Twitter.

Kuhl and his wife certainly got a chance to experience a special moment.
The Nationals also made note of an interesting fact in the caption of their tweet.
While Amanda was undergoing cancer treatment, she and Nationals Philanthropies, an organization which champions opportunities for all residents of the Washington D.C. area to thrive, raised over $30K for breast cancer treatment and research.
They also rallied behind a strong mission statement, which states “Cancer isn’t Kuhl.”
However, Amanda certainly is, and deserves much credit for her charitable work and her fight against breast cancer.
Sunday was a special day all around the baseball world.
But for Kuhl and his wife, it was extra special.
Amanda got a chance to share a special moment with the fans in Washington and had the entire city of Washington D.C. cheering her on as she delivered the first pitch before the game.
