The National Football League is a quarterback’s league.
It’s always been like that, and that’s become even more evident as the years go by.
That’s why no team is complete or poised to win until they take care of their QB situation, and why teams are taking so many risks with young QBs in the NFL Draft nowadays.
With that in mind, Jamie Erdahl of Good Morning Football put together her list of the best quarterbacks under 25, and she made some interesting picks, for sure.
GM*QB@JamieErdahl‘s Top 5 QBs Under 25
5️⃣ Kenny Pickett @steelers
4️⃣ Justin Fields @ChicagoBears
3️⃣ Brock Purdy @49ers
2️⃣ Trevor Lawrence @Jaguars
1️⃣ Jalen Hurts @Eagles pic.twitter.com/PTpxyfikzp— Good Morning Football (@gmfb) May 16, 2023
At No. 5, she chose Kenny Pickett, who wasn’t even the starter at first for the Pittsburgh Steelers but closed out the season on a very high note.
Erdahl praised Pickett’s ability to extend plays and operate in the pocket and predicted a solid year 2 for the University of Pittsburgh product.
She later raved about Justin Fields, mostly because of his ability to run the football.
She believes Fields should have a very good season after the Chicago Bears’ additions in the offseason, even if he didn’t get off to the best start to his carer.
Notably, she then talked about Brock Purdy, praising him for winning a playoff game as a rookie, and shutting down the narrative about him being carried by the defense, as he threw for 2+ touchdowns in all his starts before getting hurt in that NFC Championship Game.
She then talked about Trevor Lawrence and praised him for his development and improvement last season, claiming that it was his actual rookie year after one season under Urban Meyer.
Unsurprisingly, she chose Jalen Hurts as the best QB under 25 right now, praising him for the MVP-caliber season he had and citing that “everything he does looks cool.”
