Fans of the Chicago Bears have hope for the 2023 season, as the team has made some notable moves this offseason.

They traded the No. 1 pick in this month’s draft to the Carolina Panthers in a deal that brought back some draft capital, as well as productive wide receiver D.J. Moore.

Chicago has also brought in running back D’Onta Foreman, who is also a former Panther, and he will give them some much-needed offensive firepower.

But their hopes mostly rest on the development of quarterback Justin Fields, who has thus far failed to pan out in two seasons.

Analyst Michael Lombardi pointed out that Fields’ numbers so far resemble those of Houston Texans signal-caller Davis Mills, who isn’t exactly dripping with potential.

Of course, the big difference between the two is the fact that Fields is one of the best QBs when it comes to moving the chains with his legs.

He ran for 1,143 yards and eight touchdowns last season and helped the Bears finish first in rushing yards.

But he needs to improve greatly as a passer if the Bears are to ever move forward.

There are those who feel he simply doesn’t have much potential in that category, but there are also those who feel he can make a big jump forward if he is given the resources to do so.

In college, Fields was a prolific passer, throwing for 5,373 yards and 63 touchdowns in two seasons with Ohio State, and that’s the type of production Chicago is hoping to start getting from him.
