The Washington Commanders recently finalized a deal for the sale of the team, or so we thought.

Many fans around the league thought that this deal was complete, but it does still need to be voted on by NFL ownership, solidifying the plan.

According to Albert Breer, however, the league is not planning on voting on this during the spring meeting.

As Breer highlights, this vote might not happen until later in the offseason, likely in the summer.

The Commanders have been subject to scrutiny over the past several months.

Not only has this been due to their organizational struggles, but also because of their on-field product and the current state of their stadium.

Many players and fans complain about the stadium, citing that it is falling apart.

It has been heavily suggested that the team should move to a new stadium, which could be an initiative from their new ownership group.

The longer that these talks stall, the longer that the team’s future hangs in the balance.

The Commanders finished the 2022 season with an 8-8-1 record and will look to the 2023 season with high hopes of improvement.

Again, this sale has been a public point of contention.

The sooner this deal is finalized, the sooner the team can move on, focusing on the upcoming season.

Without a clear identity, it can be difficult for teams to make a true impact, and keep their heads focused on what’s ahead.

How will the Commanders’ fans and players respond to the current ownership conundrum?
