The NFL owners will have plenty to discuss in their upcoming meetings over the next few days.

But one topic they will not change is the onside kick.

That has been a hot topic of conversation for a while, as some teams are hoping to see that rule updated.

The onside kick is rarely recovered, and some teams are hoping to give the trailing team a better chance at a comeback.

According to FanDuel, of the 56 attempted onside kicks last season only three of them were recovered.

Also, the Eagles proposed in the past that the onside kick be replaced with a 4th-and-20 scenario.

But, that proposal was not agreed to.

Tom Pelissero reported that the onside kick alternatives will not be voted on at these upcoming meetings.

The onside kick debate has been going on for many years as teams cannot agree on the issue.

The NFL is always looking for ways to make the game more exciting.

Replacing the onside kick with a play would be one way to do that.

But, the league does not want desperate teams to have a greater chance of pulling off a comeback victory.

So for another year, fans will have to hope an onside kick is what can keep their hopes of winning a game alive.

With how much the NFL has transitioned in recent years you would think the onside kick will be removed eventually.
