The Dan Snyder era of the Washington Commanders is on the verge of coming to an end, with the team likely to be sold for upwards of $6 billion, which is an incredible profit considering the team was bought for $800 million in 1999.

The eye-popping return on investment for Snyder aside, the Commanders’ avid fan base and players of the past and present are likely ecstatic about the news of the sale.

One of those former players expressed his happiness about Snyder finally agreeing to sell the Commanders, with former star quarterback Robert Griffin III saying a dark cloud is about to be lifted from the Washington franchise.

Griffin’s smile ear to ear when talking about the upcoming sale of the Commanders says it all, as Snyder’s forgettable and ruthless reign is about to come to an end for a team that has desperately needed an overhaul.

Once the deal officially goes through and the keys to the franchise are handed over, it’ll be interesting to see what changes are made and what the new ownership plans to do to right the ship in Washington.

It’s unlikely that the Commanders can turn things around immediately, as that is no easy task for another professional sports franchise, especially one that has had to deal with an owner like Snyder over the past two decades.

However, this once-proud franchise is back to heading in the right direction, and only time will tell when the Commanders will be considered a force to be reckoned with in the NFL once again.
