LeBron James played as hard as he could on Monday night but it still wasn’t enough to give the Los Angeles Lakers a crucial victory.

The Lakers were swept out of the playoffs by the Denver Nuggets even though James scored 40 points, 10 rebounds, and 9 assists and shooting 4-of-7 from the three-point line.

On Tuesday morning, Shannon Sharpe had nothing but respect for all James did, especially because he was “less than 100%” due to a foot injury.

“He emptied the tank. I think he squeezed the orange and got all the juice he possibly could,” Sharpe said.

Sharpe talked about the long season that James had.

He was playing like one of the five best athletes in the league for much of the year but a foot injury changed all of that a few months ago.

Since then, James’ output hasn’t been the same and he has even admitted that it was slowing him down but he felt he could still play well enough to get across the finish line.

James has always been a player who wants to leave it all out on the court and that was clear during his 40-point showing on Monday night.

In the weeks ahead, there will be a lot of arguments about James and Father Time catching up with him.

Sharpe and others will argue that James is still a monumentally important player, even with his age and the injuries he encounters.

But they will also welcome any and all help that James can get next season, in the form of returning players and new additions too.

James isn’t getting any younger and these injuries are becoming more frequent.

How will the Lakers attempt to give him even more help?
