Los Angeles Angels star Shohei Ohtani made some history on Monday against the Baltimore Orioles.
Of course, it is to be expected, since nobody has done the things he can do on a daily basis.
In the Angels’ win against the Orioles, Ohtani reached base five times and completed seven innings of work from the mound.
Yes, he allowed three home runs and five runs in total, but he was so good with the stick that he helped his own cause.
In the end, he notched the win and the Angels went home happy.
The on-base prowess and the seven innings he pitched on the mound put him in some exclusive territory.
“Nobody reached base more times today (via H, BB or HBP) than the @Angels‘ Shohei Ohtani (5). Neither did anyone pitch more innings (7.0). No other player in the live-ball era (since 1920) has led MLB in both categories (outright or tied) on a day with at least a dozen games,” OptaSTATS tweeted.

He led all hitters in times reaching base on Monday, and that’s MLB-wide.
No one pitched more than his seven frames, either.
No player has led both categories in a single day with a minimum of 12 games.
Not that we needed more proof to confirm Ohtani is amazing, but it’s always cool to see him establish new records every time he steps on a baseball field.
He is nothing short of amazing and is already one of the top candidates for the 2023 AL MVP award.
It would be the second of his career.
