The Cleveland Guardians have developed yet another pitching star in Tanner Bibee.
The 2021 draftee needed just 148 innings in the minor leagues between 2022 and 2023 to convince the team he was ready to star in the majors.
If there were any doubts about his control (he did gave up 4.70 walks per nine innings in 15.1 Triple-A frames this year) he is erasing them each time he gets the ball in MLB.
He was brilliant in his most recent start, which came on Sunday against the Los Angeles Angels.
“Tanner Bibee Yesterday’s Line: 7.2 IP, 1 ER, 7 K, 2 H, 0 BB. Only 4 players in MLB history have achieved all of those stats within one of their first 4 career games pitched: Tanner Bibee – 2023, Travis Wood – 2010, Ryan Rupe – 1999, Roy Halladay – 1998,” Cleveland Stats tweeted.

It’s important to put Bibee’s numbers from his last outing in context, and for that the folks at Cleveland Stats are of great help.
He did something that only Roy Halladay and two other pitchers did.
To have that kind of start (just two baserunners all afternoon!) within his first four career games is nothing short of amazing.
Bibee has been an incredible find for Cleveland and another proof (as if we needed one!) that the Guardians player development staff is amazing, particularly with pitchers.
For the season, he sports a strong 3.22 ERA in 22.1 frames, with a 4/22 BB/K ratio, impressive stuff, and even better command.
He is as polished as they come and figures to help the Guardians rotation, at least, for the next six seasons.
