Today marks a special anniversary for the New York Yankees.
25 years ago on this date, May 17, legendary left-hander David Wells threw a perfect game.
It was the 15th perfect game in Major League history and the second in Yankees team history, with David Cone having thrown the first.
Wells drew the start against the Minnesota Twins in that game and completely dominated in front of a packed house at the old Yankee Stadium on a Sunday afternoon.
On Twitter, SNY recalled the left-hander’s legendary achievement and posted an exciting video featuring the final out of the game, when Wells officially completed his masterpiece.

Wells pitched 21 seasons in Major League Baseball.
He spent most of his time with the Toronto Blue Jays.
However, he did pitch four seasons as a member of the Yankees.
He also spent time with the Cincinnati Reds, Detroit Tigers, Chicago White Sox, Boston Red Sox, San Diego Padres, and Los Angeles Dodgers.
Over the course of his 21-year career, Wells won 239 games and posted an ERA of 4.13.
The 59-year-old was a three-time All-Star, an ALCS MVP, and two-time World Series champion.
But this perfect game was one of the best moments in Wells’ legendary career.
Wells certainly had several great moments over the course of his career, but his perfect game may have been the pinnacle of those moments.
That season, Wells helped guide the Yankees to their 24th World Series title.
The left-hander was also with the team when they won it all again in 1999.
