The American League East is a division that has already featured a lot of twists and turns, despite the 2023 MLB season being just one month old.
By now, everybody is aware of the hot streak the Tampa Bay Rays have been on to start the year.
We’ve also seen some solid baseball from the Baltimore Orioles and Toronto Blue Jays.
Even the Boston Red Sox, who finished in last place in 2022, are playing well.
However, the same cannot be said for one team.
The New York Yankees find themselves in shockingly unfamiliar territory, as they sit at the bottom of the AL East.
With their loss on Monday and the Red Sox win, New York now stands alone at the bottom of the pack.

This certainly is not familiar territory for the Yankees, who have reached the postseason every year since 2017.
Last season, they won 99 games and cruised to their first AL East title since 2019.
They were swept in the ALCS by the Houston Astros, but still made a deep October run.
To be fair, New York has dealt with more than their fair share of injuries.
Giancarlo Stanton, Harrison Bader, Carlos Rodon, and Luis Severino are all out.
To make matters worse, Aaron Judge joined his fellow stars on the injured list after suffering a hip injury last week at Target Field.
Needless to say, the Yankees have had some bad luck as of late.
They’ve also lost four consecutive games and are now 8.5 games out of first place in the AL East.
