All eyes are currently set on Victor Wembanayama, who’s projected to be the No. 1 pick in the upcoming 2023 NBA Draft.
The French standout is expected to take his talents to the U.S. and join the San Antonio Spurs next season, but that’s not what’s at the top of his priority list right now.
According to Sam Borden via Bleacher Report, the Metropolitans’ big man has taken it upon himself to beat Team USA in the 2024 Olympics.

Wembanyama will already have a full season of NBA basketball under his belt by that point, and adding some muscle and strength behind NBA staffers and coaches will most definitely do a lot to help with that.
Team USA has dominated the world basketball scene almost at will since that iconic Redeem Team put an end to years of struggles, so this will be way easier said than done.
Nonetheless, most of the stars that usually represent Team USA at those stages will already be aging, so there’s a big chance the national team will have to rely upon younger, more unproven players to get the job done that time around.
Wembanyama is believed to be the greatest prospect in NBA history, even ahead of LeBron James, which is a lot of pressure to deal with.
His unique combination of size, handles, shooting, and shot-blocking make scouts believe he’s got the potential to become the greatest player of all time, and landing with Gregg Popovich and the Spurs was the best thing that could’ve happened to a guy like him.
