Often times when wholesome moments happen during baseball games, we categorize them as “bigger than baseball.”
Ultimately, that is exactly the case.
On Saturday, Toronto Blue Jays star Vladimir Guerrero Jr. noticed a young fan holding a sign saying that he recently beat cancer and knew that he had to give him a gift.
As soon as Guerrero noticed the fan, he instructed the Blue Jays bat boy to hand him a bat.
Ultimately, the fan received the gift of a lifetime from Guerrero.
On Twitter, MLB posted the video of Guerrero noticing the fan with the sign and ultimately giving him a special gift.

The video ended with the young fan reading a Blue Jays program and Guerrero smiling when he noticed how happy the fan was.
Baseball may be a game of competitiveness.
However, there are some moments, such as this one that prove that baseball is more than just a game, and that wholesome moments are a part of what makes the game what it is.
Baseball always seems to have the ability to heal wounds and turn people’s days around for the better.
And in this moment, Guerrero made the young fan’s day by gifting him one of his bats.
Unfortunately, the Blue Jays couldn’t bring home a winner on Saturday against the Baltimore Orioles, but the young fan got to bring home something special from one of the best and brightest stars the game of baseball has to offer.
Now, he’ll have something that he’ll cherish for the rest of his life.
