The Chicago White Sox put together a solid team in the offseason when they added Andrew Benintendi and Mike Clevinger to bolster their offense and their starting rotation.

However, a strong offseason does not guarantee a winning season, and so far, the White Sox have not been winning a lot of games.

In fact, it’s been quite the opposite.

After an 0-6 road trip, they returned home for a four-game series against the scorching Tampa Bay Rays.

The Rays busted out for 14 runs and handed the White Sox their eighth straight loss.

On Twitter, MLB writer Bob Nightengale revealed just how bad things have gotten for the South Siders early in the season.

In addition to their 14-5 loss, the White Sox have been shut out in two of their last three games and have lost those games by a combined score of 29-5.

The team is also now 7-19.

This is their worst start since the 1986 season.

Only the Oakland Athletics and Kansas City Royals have worse records than the South Siders at the moment.

Chicago has already dug themselves a significant hole in the AL Central, as they trail the Minnesota Twins by eight games.

They are also eight games behind the New York Yankees for the third Wild Card spot in the American League.

Needless to say, things aren’t going well for the White Sox, who will need to turn it around quickly if they plan on returning to the postseason for the third time in the last four years.

The White Sox continue to struggle and may soon find themselves in a hole too big to climb out of.
